Topic: Basic Stoic theory, Diogenes Laertius’ edition

From time to time it is a good thing to go back to the basics, to remind ourselves of what Stoicism is all about. It is also good to go back to the original sources still available today. In this meetup we will do both, examining Stoic theory as summarized by Diogenes Laertius in book VII of his Lives and Opinions of the Eminent Philosophers. Basic background reading available here (http://tinyurl.com/ybv5j2bx).

The School is inspired by the ancient Greco-Roman schools of philosophy. We will examine the theory and practice of Stoicism as a modern applied philosophy that aids us in navigating a world in some ways just as confusing and uncertain as that of ancient Athens and Rome.

Meeting dates subject to change.
