Sunday Meeting -  The Devil’s in the Details: The Faulty Moral Philosophy of Our Conservative Candidates

Ceremonial Hall
Curt Collier, Leader
Dan Hanson Presides

Many of the current candidates vying for the Republican nomination have stressed their conservative credentials as a test for their readiness to serve.

All of them have based their conservative stance on particular interpretations of Christian theology. The problem is, even given their highly nuanced beliefs, none of the candidates have demonstrated a consistent application of that belief system, and most are guilty of violating their own religious standards. If their moral beliefs are capricious at best, how are we, the voting public, to judge the veracity of their approach? Is moral philosophy really needed in American politics, and if so, what would a consistent and practical moral system look like?
