Hooray for Friday — especially 3rd Fridays at The Café at Ethical, a welcoming place to unwind, relax, enjoy the music, refreshments, good company, and entertainment. Get up and dance if the music moves you! Or just sit back and enjoy. MC Steph Walker and the John Wilmeth Jazz trio bring us a bevy of musical talent.

As she dipped and swooped, twirling notes and phrases with a confidence and playfulnessthat recalled Ella Fitzgerald in her prime, Ms. Stravelli began interpreting lyrics with a ferocity that her vocal pyrotechnics accentuated.” --Stephen Holden, New York Times

“ of the top vocalists on the music scene today.” –Fred Hersch, 9-time Grammy nominated pianist and composer.

Right now she’s hotter than the equator.” -- — David Finkle, Village Voice

Award-winning vocalist Gabrielle Stravelli has the whole package — a fantastic instrument, great timing, perfect diction, and superb musicianship. She's garnered critical acclaim and a loyal following through her original songs and her unique take on material from the new American songbook as well as classic standards. A trained actor, Gabrielle has a soulful sensitivity for the story in the lyric and was called “a powerhouse of individual expression” by The Village Voice.

You probably heard Ms. Stravelli’s latest album, “Dream Ago”, that received rave reviews from Downbeat Magazine, LA Jazz Scene, and The Huffington Post among others.  She has toured the US with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, performing Wynton Marsalis’s Abyssinian: A Gospel Celebration, which has been featured in 92Y’s Lyrics and Lyricists Series. In recognition of such talent and ability to draw crowds, the Association of Clubs and Cabarets awarded Gabrielle Stravelli the MAC “Best Female Vocalist” in 2015. Her reputation spread internationally as toured for the U.S. Department of State as a “Jazz Ambassador.”

Gabrielle will be backed by the John Wilmeth Jazz Trio: John Wilmeth on piano, Ron McClure on bass, and Dave Meade on drums.
