A reading of Robert Penn Warren’s All The King’s Men. Filled with ethical dilemmas, the play is an exploration of political power through the rise and fall of the populist Willie Stark. Stark is a simple man with plans to help his community. Ironically, he must compromise his ideals to gain the political power he needs to realize them. At a certain point, power becomes an end as well as a means and a corrupting force, as well as a force for good.
Cast: Carole and Jerry Chamlin, Pat Debrovner, James de Lorenzo, Maria Demarse, John Gurney, Jesai Jayhmes, John Kreuttner, Alex Mogieleff, Ailene Quan and David Waltzer.
Narrator: Pat Berens. Director: Jesai Jayhmes. Following the reading, Betsy Ungar will lead a discussion. Admission: $5.
