Judgment at Nuremberg (1961), directed by Stanley Kramer, the next film in our 2006-2007 series “Reel Justice: Courtroom Dramas,” hosted by our popular film historian, Richard Bruno.
This dramatic film is a fictionalized version of the real-life 1948 trial of the Nazi leaders for crimes against humanity. Later made into a Broadway play, the story revolves around an American judge (Spencer Tracy) presiding over these trials. We’ll see fine performances by Marlene Dietrich as the widow of a German officer and Montgomery Clift as an unbalanced victim of Nazi atrocities. Members: $3. Nonmembers: $4.

Can a spiritually exhausted priest make a real difference in the lives of his working-class parish, while focusing on ritual and the promise of salvation?
Join us as we present the play, Racing Demon, by David Hare. The playwright offers strong positions on the topics of separation of church and state and the over-zealousness of members of the clergy and their efforts to balance ritual with a commitment to their parishioners. David Hare is one of Britain’s foremost playwrights; Racing Demon won him the Olivier Award for best play in 1990. Betsy Ungar will moderate and lead a discussion of the ethical issues raised.
Call Suzy Frazer at 212-874-5210, ext. 113, to register. Members: $10. Nonmembers: $15. Unless you have a season pass for the Adult Education events.
